Studying an AHPR Accredited Course

By studying a course accredited by AHPR you are choosing a course that has undergone rigorous scrutiny. This ensures that you qualify with an award that fully equips you to provide animal health services that protect animal welfare and the interests of the animal owners and veterinary surgeons who will refer cases to you. You will also be able to apply for direct entry to AHPR making the application process straight forward.

If for any reason the course you choose to study loses or does not reapply for accreditation (courses are monitored on an annual basis) you will be unable to apply for direct entry. You would then have to apply to the register through the recognition of prior learning. This is a more costly application and requires the completion of additional documents to show how your qualification and experience meet the Day One Competencies for the subgroup to which you wish to apply.

Accredited Courses

Accreditation for the purposes of AHPR means that the course has undergone scrutiny and has met the criteria for educational standards as set out by each individual subgroup. It does not refer to academic credit; a term used by Further and Higher Education course providers in relation to the credit value of their awards.

If you studied one of the courses below you are required to apply by RPL/RPEL but you do NOT need to map your learning and experience to the day one competencies – this has already been done for you.
