Following the Governments’ advice last night that you should not leave your house except in very clear circumstances; the guidance in relation to businesses (see link below) clearly states “Non-essential businesses and premises must now shut”
Whilst the Government have classed Farm Vets and Veterinary Emergency services as critical businesses (they will be able to keep running) most of our registrants do not cover Farm or Emergency cases. The RCVS and BVA are seeking guidance from the Government about the position of other Veterinary Practices and we will keep you updated on this.
Whilst we understand that this is going to be a very difficult time for you, as many of you are self-employed and currently there appears to be little financial help from the Government (however we note that they Government have said they are going to announce new aid for businesses) we must reiterate that you should not be seeing clients face to face at this time or undertaking unnecessary travel. In the advice sent out yesterday we did make some suggestions as to how you can keep in contact with clients. Please consider that if you leave your home to undertake unnecessary face to face work you are risking the lives of the vulnerable members of society. Boris Johnson did mention in his speech yesterday that these measures are initially for a 3 week period however after that there will be a reassessment of the situation. “
